#1. District 1, Le Thanh Ton Tonkatsu Restaurant FUJIRO Review
FUJIRO, a tonkatsu restaurant, is located in an alley in Le Thanh Ton Japanese Town, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. FUJIRO, where you can taste delicious tonkatsu at a reasonable price, is a famous restaurant visited by not only foreigners but also Vietnamese locals as it is located in the city center and is easily accessible.
Although it is a fairly old restaurant that has been open in Le Thanh Ton, the interior of the restaurant is quite clean. There are no major inconveniences except that the seats are a bit narrow as they try to fit as many tables as possible into the small space.
I visited alone on a Wednesday evening and took a seat at the bar table. For a drink, I ordered a cup of cold oolong tea. It tastes similar to green tea, but has less astringency and is savory and smooth, making it easy to drink. It goes quite well with oily fried foods.
For my meal that day, I ordered FUJIRO's signature dish, Deep Fried 2.5CM Thick of Pork Cutlet Set. It consists of 2.5cm thick loin cutlet, cabbage salad, white rice, miso soup, braised enoki mushroom tsuyu, and pork cutlet sauce. The thickness of the signature tonkatsu, which was 3cm until a few years ago, has been reduced to 2.5cm to maintain the price, but the portion is still generous.
Sirloin tonkatsu is characterized by a chewy texture as it is a cut that undergoes more exercise than tenderloin tonkatsu. You can dip the pork cutlet in the regular sauce, spicy sauce, or mustard that comes with it to suit your preference, and it's quite delicious. FUJIRO is not a restaurant famous for its tonkatsu for no reason.
Additionally, I ordered 2 pieces of Pizza 4Ps mozzarella cheese cutlet. The pork cutlet is filled with chewy and savory mozzarella cheese made by Pizza 4Ps, a famous pizza franchise in Ho Chi Minh.
Although FUJIRO is not as good as famous tonkatsu restaurants in Japan, it was once the best tonkatsu restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City and is still one of the best tonkatsu restaurants. The tenderloin tonkatsu, sirloin tonkatsu, ebi katsu, and cheese katsu are all really delicious.

FUJIRO, a tonkatsu specialty restaurant, has eliminated the menu board it used to use and allows you to check the menu and order by scanning the QR code on the table with your mobile phone. We sell a variety of menus such as pork cutlet, cheese cutlet, chicken cutlet, shrimp cutlet, curry, etc. You can choose a main set menu and then add a single menu to enjoy a hearty meal.
