#1. District 2, Thao Dien Mexican Restaurant District Federal Review
District Federal is the most famous Mexican restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City, located in an alley in Thao Dien, District 2. District Federal is the most expensive Mexican restaurant in Thao Dien, but it has a special atmosphere, excellent service, and especially high quality food, so it is definitely worth a visit if you want to try real Mexican food.

The restaurant was considerably larger than it looked from the outside. The interior was dark overall, and there was a large sugar skulls, traditional Mexican hat Sombreros, and Mexican style murals at the entrance and throughout the place, creating an exotic and attractive atmosphere.

Even though it was a weekday evening, about half of the tables were occupied. Most were Westerners, and there were a few families with young children. I visited alone on a Wednesday evening to have dinner and sat at a round table in the corner.

Happy hour every day until 6:30pm. Order one Tequila 1800 Reposado or Blanco and get one free, or order two specific cocktails and get one free. It says it's from 4pm Monday to Thursday, and from 2pm Friday to Sunday, but it's closed on Mondays.

Since I arrived at the restaurant during happy hour, I ordered a Tequila 1800 Reposado right away. It is a cheap tequila, but it has a strong flavor with a unique aroma. Drinking it with the salt attached to the lip of the glass enhances the flavor and helps to reduce the strong flavor a little, making it a great drinker.

I wanted to continue drinking tequila, but the price and alcohol content were too high, so I ordered Corona, Mexico's representative beer. They put a lime wedge in the mouth of the bottle, and the smooth beer with the lime flavor went well with the spicy Mexican food.

Baja Beef Birria Tacos are filled with a variety of ingredients including brisket, spicy beef stock, cheese, avocado, onions, peppers, pico(finely chopped tomato, jalapeno, onion, lime, etc.), cilantro, and spicy beef birria sauce on tortillas.

The tacos were a satisfying meal, with a harmonious blend of intensely flavored beef, refreshing pico, and fresh avocado, all wrapped in a crispy tortilla.

When I ordered tacos, they gave me a variety of sauces like chipotle, salsa verde, habanero, lemon habanero, and chocolate habanero. When I sprinkled salsa verde and habanero sauces on tacos or quesadillas, the unique flavor and refreshing taste were added, allowing me to enjoy Mexican food even more deliciously.

Chicken Tinga & Cheese Quesadilla is filled with refried beans, cheesy chipotle salsa, and chicken tinga between crispy tortillas, and topped with red onion pickles, cilantro, and hot sauce. I topped it with the spicy beef birria sauce that came with the tacos, and it was delicious with just the right amount of spiciness.

The quality of District Federal's Mexican food is so good that few restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City can match it. However, the prices are a bit on the high side, so it may be a bit too much to visit for a meal. It is also a good idea to visit for a second round for drinking after eating at another restaurant nearby.

#2. Mexican Restaurant District Federal - Menu
District Federal offers a variety of Mexican dishes, including tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and tapas, as well as a variety of drinks, including whiskey, tequila, and margaritas. It is the most expensive Mexican restaurant in Thao Dien, but the excellent atmosphere and high-quality food are definitely attractive. If you find the price of a meal too expensive, it is a good idea to have dinner at another restaurant nearby and then visit for a second round.

I visited for dinner alone on a Wednesday evening and ordered as follows:
Tequila 1800 Reposado(Shot): 150,000VND x 2 EA(Happy Hour) = 150,000VND
Corona Beer: 85,000VND x 2 EA = 170,000VND
Baja Beef Birria Tacos: 245,000VND
Chicken Tinga & Cheese Quesadilla: 145,000VND
Including 5% service charge, 8% general VAT, and 10% alcohol VAT, the total bill for a meal alone was 811,540VND. District Federal is the most expensive Mexican restaurant in Thao Dien, but it has a special atmosphere, excellent service, and especially high quality food, so it is definitely worth a visit if you want to try real Mexican food.
