#1. District Binh Thanh, Pham Viet Chanh Street Yakiniku Restaurant SUMIBIYAKI ENRO Review
Yakiniku restaurant SUMIBIYAKI ENRO is located on Pham Viet Chanh Street in District Binh Thanh, which is called Little Tokyo or the second Japanese town in Ho Chi Minh. This restaurant has only recently opened, and has a fairly upscale yet clean atmosphere. The prices are a bit high, but can taste good quality meat, so it is especially popular with Japanese men living in Ho Chi Minh City.

I visited with a friend on a Saturday evening and sat at a table on the first floor, which is a non-smoking area. The smoking area is on the second floor. It was nice to be able to dine in a pleasant environment.

This newly opened restaurant was having a big event where could drink unlimited amounts of various drinks including Sapporo draft beer, Asahi draft beer, Kaku Highball, and Kakubin whiskey for 2 hours for a low price of 300,000VND. It was a very generous event where could at least drink 5 glasses of Asahi draft beer and get your money's worth.

Before the grilling meat came out, the single menu Beef Tongue Oden (Half) came out first. I ordered it out of curiosity, but it was closer to just boiled beef tongue than oden. It was soft and chewy, and the salty broth was well-infused, so it was quite delicious.

While I was drinking Asahi beer with beef tongue oden, a large yakiniku charcoal grill appeared. It was filled with charcoal, so it was easy to quickly cook the meat. Some yakiniku restaurants have small charcoals, making it difficult to grill meat, but the grill here was satisfying.

The first meat I ordered was the US High Class Thick-sliced Beef Tongue. It was seasoned with a salty garlic flavor and looked great.

At SUMIBIYAKI ENRO, they provide small tongs for each person so that personally can grill their own meat. It doesn't have the comfort of a Korean restaurant where the local staff grills the meat for me, but it's not bad to grill my own meat sometimes.

I ate the beef tongue, which was well-cooked on both sides and topped with the refreshing green onion seasoning that came with it. The soft yet chewy texture and unique deep flavor filled my mouth, giving me great satisfaction.

The second meat, I ordered was the US Beef Outside Skirt(Harami). This is a popular cut of beef among Japanese people and was coated with a sweet and salty yakiniku seasoning.

I ate the harami with the outside grilled until crispy., and it was chewy without being tough, and the sweet and salty seasoning and strong meat flavor were quite harmonious. I ordered another serving of this before I finished it all.

Unlike Korean restaurants, yakiniku restaurants do not have any free side dishes, so I had to order it I wanted. Eating only meat, I started to get tired, so I ordered Assorted Kimchi. Kimchi made with cabbage, cucumber, and okra was served in a small dish. It was a kimchi that suited the Japanese palate by reducing the spiciness and adding a sweet and savory flavor.

For the third meat, I ordered US Short Rib With Bone. It was seasoned like harami, and it looked very appetizing with a lot of meat attached to the bone and evenly marbled.

The meat was very tender and easily separated from the bones, and it was rich in fat and meaty flavor, so it was really good. I tasted one and immediately ordered another.

I was bored with just drinking Asahi beer only, so I ordered a Kaku Highball. It was a proper highball with the right amount of Kakubin whiskey. It is not common to find a Japanese restaurant in Ho Chi Minh that makes a highball this good.

For the last fourth meat, I ordered US Thin-sliced Beef Tongue. This too, like the premium beef tongue, had a salty garlicky seasoning, which wasn't bad, but there was a big difference in texture and meaty flavor from the premium beef tongue.

To finish off the meal, I ordered Kakubin whiskey. It is a decent whiskey with a subtle vanilla sweetness and a dry, light woody flavor. However, due to its rarity, it has too many bubbles, so it is a burden to order and drink at full price.

#2. Yakiniku Restaurant SUMIBIYAKI ENRO - Menu
Yakiniku restaurant SUMIBIYAKI ENRO is not a restaurant with good value, but a place where you can taste high-quality Japanese-style BBQ. The prices are relatively high overall, but the alcohol prices are surprisingly not bad, the atmosphere is good, so it is a good restaurant to visit for a drink after a meal. They hold various events every month, so it is recommended to check on Google Maps before visiting.

I visited with a friend on Saturday evening and ordered the following for dinner:
US High Class Thick-sliced Beef Tongue: 280,000VND
US Beef Outside Skirt: 240,000VND x 2 EA = 480,000VND
US Short Rib With Bone: 250,000VND x 2 EA = 500,000VND
US Thin-sliced Beef Tongue: 180,000VND
Beef Tongue Oden(Half): 170,000VND
Assorted Kimchi: 90,000VND
Nomihoudai Set(Bottomless Drinks): 300,000VND x 2 EA = 600,000VND
Oshibori(Wet Wipe): 2,000VND x 2 EA = 4,000VND
The total amount was 2,500,320VND, including 8% general VAT and 10% alcohol VAT. It is quite expensive for a meal for two people, but since they are having a Bottomless Drinks event, we drank more than 8 glasses of alcohol per person, so it is a very cost-effective meal. Even if you don't drink alcohol, the quality of the meat is so good that you'll be satisfied with your meal. It's the best among the yakiniku restaurants I've visited recently.
