#1. District 1, Le Thanh Ton Japanese Restaurant Ebisu Udon Review
Japanese restaurant Ebisu Udon is located across from Häagen-Dazs in Le Thanh Ton Japanese Town, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. As expected from a udon restaurant, the prices of the overall menu are reasonable, but the quality of the food other than udon is higher than expected, so it is a good place to visit to try other dishes.
The first floor of Ebisu Udon has a kitchen, bar table, and regular tables, while the hall on the second floor has only tables. I visited for a meal alone on a Friday evening and took a seat at the first floor bar table.
This day was a day when I wanted a highball more than a Sapporo draft beer. The ratio of whiskey and soda water was perfect, and the freshness of a small amount of lime juice added, making it a satisfying taste. There are a lot of Japanese restaurants that make a mess of their highballs, but Ebisu Udon's highballs are pretty good.
For my first dish, I ordered the popular menu here, SEASONED COD ROE TOPPED CREAM UDON. A poached egg, chives, and dried seaweed are placed on top of soft, pink cream udon with salted cod roe. All you have to do is mix it well and eat it.
The thick and chewy udon noodles have a very attractive taste, with the unique salty taste of cod roe, soft cream sauce, and the savory flavor of poached eggs. Ebisu Udon is definitely one of the best udon restaurants in Ho Chi Minh.
It was disappointing to only eat udon, so I ordered STEWED PORK & SEASONED EGG as my second dish. It is a dish of pork belly and eggs boiled in Japanese soy sauce. The sweet and salty sauce penetrated into the tender meat well, making it a great accompaniment to drinks. It's really delicious when you put mustard sauce, green onion greens, and spinach on top of the meat.
Ebisu Udon sells a variety of Japanese dishes other than udon, and each and every dish is of high quality, making it a great restaurant to visit to try other foods besides udon. Not only the snacks, but also the sushi and sashimi are delicious beyond expectations, and are better than most nearby sushi restaurants.
#2. Japanese Restaurant Ebisu Udon Menu
Japanese restaurant Ebisu Udon serves a variety of udon, cold udon, sashimi, sushi, rice bowls, and Japanese snacks. As expected from a udon restaurant, the prices of the overall menu are reasonable, but the quality of the food other than udon is higher than expected, so it is a good place to visit to try other dishes.
I visited alone for dinner on a Friday evening and ordered the following.
SEASONED COD ROE TOPPED CREAM UDON: 198,000VND
STEWED PORK & SEASONED EGG: 148,000VND
Highball: 88,000VND x 2 EA = 176,000VND
At 522,000 VND, plus 8% general VAT and 10% liquor VAT, came out to a decent amount of 567,280VND. Ebisu Udon is a charming restaurant that serves high-quality udon and a variety of Japanese snacks at reasonable prices. It is definitely worth a visit among the dozens of Japanese restaurants in Le Thanh Ton Japanese Town.
