#1. District 7, Phu My Hung Japanese Restaurant DONNOSUKE SUSHI & UDON Review
Japanese restaurant DONNOSUKE SUSHI & UDON is located near Sky Garden Apartment Complex on Nguyen Van Linh Boulevard, Phu My Hung, District 7. This restaurant is famous for its udon among both locals and foreigners living in the area. In addition to udon, the other dishes such as rice bowls, tempura, and sushi are also quite good.
It has a clean interior with a typical Japanese restaurant atmosphere. I visited alone on a Saturday evening to have a meal and sat at the bar table attached to the kitchen on the first floor.
I ordered a Jim Beam Soda XL(Extra Large Highball) to drink with my meal. It was filled to the brim in a glass that was more than twice as large as a regular highball glass, which was really appealing because it allowed me to drink a lot of highball at a reasonable price.
I thought it would be boring to just eat udon, so I ordered Salmon, Medium Fatty Tuna, and Aburi Longtooth Grouper sushi. Although Donnosuke is a udon specialty restaurant, the sushi is not bad either. In particular, the neta is fresh and the size is quite large, so it gives me a greater sense of satisfaction when I eat it.
Compared to the satisfying neta, the shari was easy to break and not easy to use with chopsticks. Nevertheless, the taste was good and I especially liked the Aburi Longtooth Grouper.
After finishing all the sushi, Donnosuke Cold Udon, Donnosuke's signature menu, was arrived. The udon is served in a large, specially designed plate that looks like a work of art, boasting an overwhelming visual.
The colorful toppings, such as shrimp tempura, beef, crab stick, fried tofu, seaweed, pickled spinach, green onion, and mustard, were arranged in a circle around a half-boiled egg, making for a visually pleasing dish. I could feel the various textures and tastes that changed depending on what kind of topping I ate the udon with.
Donnosuke Udon's noodles are thick and chewy, but they are also famous for their appealing texture, like al dente pasta, with a slightly undercooked texture that allows you to chew on the noodles' core. The mild, non-stimulating flavor and the harmony of various ingredients and flavors gave me a great sense of satisfaction.
#2. Japanese Restaurant DONNOSUKE SUSHI & UDON Menu
Japanese restaurant DONNOSUKE SUSHI & UDON offers a variety of Japanese dishes, including udon, sushi, and tempura, at reasonable prices. The prices of sashimi and sushi are relatively higher than other menus, but considering the freshness of the ingredients used, it is somewhat understandable. If you want to enjoy a meal at a good price, you can order only udon, rice bowls, and tempura, or visit during lunch time to take lunch sets.
I visited alone for dinner on a Saturday evening and ordered as follows:
Donnosuke Cold Udon: 188,000VND
Salmon & Flying Fish Roe: 88,000VND
Aburi Longtooth Grouper: 55,000VND
Medium Fatty Tuna: 99,000VND
Jim Beam Soda XL: 118,000VND
With the combined general VAT 8%, alcohol VAT 10%, I was able to enjoy a very satisfying meal with a high-quality udon and decent sushi for 594,200 VND. DONNOSUKE SUSHI & UDON is an attractive restaurant where you can enjoy udon and sushi at a reasonable price, and it is definitely worth a visit if you live in Phu My Hung.
