#1. District 1, Pink Cathedral Hawaiian Restaurant Ola Hale Review
Hawaiian restaurant Ola Hale is located opposite the Pink Cathedral(Tan Dinh Cathedral) in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. It is one of the few Hawaiian restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City, it has a luxurious restaurant atmosphere and the quality of food is not bad, so it is a good place to visit for a date with your lover.
Ola Hale has a cozy bar on the first floor. Rather than a meal, it seems like a good place to visit in the evening and have a cocktail or beer with a snack. In addition to alcohol, they also serve cafe drinks.
There are tables for dining on the second floor, and the interior is made of wood in a large space. Plants are placed between the tables, and a garden is visible outside the window, giving it an eco-friendly and luxurious feel. You can also see the pink cathedral across the street, and although the building is not tall, the view was better than I expected.
My wife and I visited for dinner on a Friday evening and took a seat in the corner of the second floor. Tableware, including plates, were neatly set on the table. I asked that the plant model in the center of the table be removed as I felt it would be a distraction while eating.
When you order food, they give you potato chips. Regular potatoes and purple potatoes were thinly sliced and fried, and since they were not seasoned, they had a savory yet light taste, making them great to eat one by one while waiting for the food to be ordered.
I ordered a glass of cheap red wine STUMP JUMP SHIRAZ. As it is an inexpensive wine, the depth of aroma and taste is not what I would expect, but it is not bad for a casual drink with a meal.
For my first dish, I ordered Burrata Cheese Salad. It was a salad made of burrata cheese, Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, heirloom tomatoes, pineapple, and rocket with balsamic vinegar sprinkled on top. It wasn't anything special, but it was a fresh, sweet, sour, and creamy salad made with fresh ingredients, making it a good dish to order as an pre-dinner food.
I ordered Hapuupuu as my second dish. A cream mushroom risotto made from barley with peas, topped with grilled asparagus and a large sea bass steak. Eating soft and savory risotto together with sea bass steak that was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside was quite luxurious. It was the most delicious food I ordered that day.
I ordered Waikiki Beef as my third dish. It consists of sirloin steak, tomato rice, and arugula salad, drizzled with chicken jus sauce. The texture and sour taste of the brown rice with tomatoes were unusual, but it was worth the order. The steak was soft and not tough, and the shallot flakes and special sauce added richness and aroma, making it better than expected.
Ola Hale is a rare Hawaiian restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City. It has a unique Hawaiian oriental feel to its Western food, giving it a completely different feel from the usual Western food. It has a luxurious restaurant atmosphere, the quality of the food is not bad, and the plating is quite good, so it seems like a good place to visit for a date with your lover.
#2. Hawaiian Restaurant Ola Hale Menu
Hawaiian restaurant Ola Hale serves a variety of Hawaiian-style dishes, including poke, a well-known Hawaiian food. Considering Vietnamese prices, the overall menu is expensive, but considering the quality and quantity of the dishes, it's not bad. However, the prices of drinks are quite high compared to nearby restaurants, which is a bit disappointing.
My wife and I visited for dinner on a Friday evening and ordered the following.
Burrata Cheese Salad: 280,000VND
Waikiki Beef: 380,000VND
Hapuupuu: 320,000VND
Coke: 60,000VND
STUMP JUMP SHIRAZ(Red Wine): 200,000VND
At 1,240,000VND, plus 5% service charge, 8% general VAT, and 10% alcohol VAT, came to a total of 1,410,360VND. The price is a bit expensive, but it is a rare Hawaiian restaurant in Ho Chi Minh, the atmosphere is quite luxurious and clean, and the quality of the food exceeds expectations, so I was able to have a quite satisfactory meal.
