#1. District 1, Turtle Pond Rice Noodle Restaurant Cao Van Pho Review
Cao Van Pho, a rice noodle restaurant, is located near Turtle Pond, a trendy cafe area in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. It is a popular restaurant for locals, as it has a clean atmosphere and is located in the heart of the city. It offers delicious rice noodles at a reasonable price of 60,000VND.
It's a small rice noodle restaurant with a few tables on the street in front of the restaurant and inside. I visited alone for lunch on a Sunday, and it was definitely cheap for a restaurant in the center of Ho Chi Minh City, so there were a lot of locals.
On the table were lime, chili slices, hot sauce, hoisin sauce, and various herbs such as Thai basil, culantro. All the ingredients can be added to the rice noodles and eaten, and the sauce can be put in a separate sauce cup and used to dip the meat.
There was no separate drink menu, so I asked the staff directly, and it seemed like they were selling Tra Da(Iced Tea) and Tac Ep Tuoi(Kumquat Juice). I ordered Tra Da, which was easy to drink. It was also cheap at 2,000VND.
They sell beef rice noodle and chicken rice noodle, I chose beef rice noodle with Tai(Raw Meat) and Nam(Brisket) as toppings. The rice noodle came out in about 5 minutes after I ordered, and they also served boiled bean sprouts.
The rich beef broth had a deep, savory flavor and the generous amount of meat gave me great satisfaction. I was able to enjoy the meal even more by adding various herbs, chili slices, and Hoisin sauce to my taste.
#2. Rice Noodle Restaurant Cao Van Pho - Menu
Cao Van Pho, a rice noodle specialty restaurant, has a menu written in Vietnamese on the wall, and it can be a little confusing because the prices are not written separately, but one bowl costs 60,000VND and they mainly sell two kinds: Pho Bo(Beef Rice Noodle) and Pho Ga(Chicken Rice Noodle). For the beef rice noodle, you can choose from five toppings: Tai(Raw Meat), Nam(Brisket), Gau(Point Brisket), Gan(Tendon), and Bo Vien(Meatball).
I visited alone for lunch on Sunday and ordered as follows:
Pho Bo(Beef Rice Noodle): 60,000VND
Tra Da(Iced Tea): 2,000VND
Kanh Lanh(Wet Wipe): 2,000VND
I was able to have a satisfying meal for the low price of 64,000VND. Cao Van Pho is located near tourist attractions in Ho Chi Minh City, such as Turtle Pond, the zoo, and Notre Dame Cathedral, so it is easily accessible. The taste of the pho is decent, and the price is cheap, so it is worth a visit.
