#1. District 1, Standing Sushi Bar Sushi Tiger Review
Sushi Tiger is a standing sushi bar located at the entrance to Le Thanh Ton Japanese Town, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. This is a recently opened restaurant, and is very popular because it offers excellent quality sushi at an affordable price.
It is a small restaurant where there are no empty space when there are over ten customers. However, with three kitchen staff and two hall staff, the food ordered is served very quickly and the table turnover rate is high.
I visited alone for dinner on a Thursday evening, and since it was a weekday, there weren't many customers, so I was able to get a table easily. I ordered Sapporo draft beer and a glass of sake (Sawanotsuru Deluxe), and the staff poured me a glass 2.5 times the size of a soju glass, which was taste great.
Sushi Tiger's sushi is cheap, and prices of Sapporo draft beer and sake are also not bad, so it's a really good place to have a drink with sushi. It's nice to stop by after work, have a quick drink, and then go home.
When you order sushi, wasabi and japanese pickled ginger are provided. It's free, so if you run out of that, don't worry and just ask the staff for more. Sushi is placed 3-4 pieces per plate and served in the order you order.
The first plate was the MAGURO 3 Kind SET(Assorted Tuna). This restaurant's best-seller consists of Akami, Chutoro, and Otoro. I always order this every time I visit because I can enjoy all three parts of tuna at a much cheaper price than ordering them individually.
The second plate included, in order from the left, KAMASU, BORA, MANAGATSUO, and AJI. All four types of sushi are very affordable at 15,000 VND (810 won) each, but the taste is so good that it can rival any entry-level sushi restaurant in Japan.
The third plate, in order from the left, included SALMON, SALMON ONION MAYO, SALMON ABURI, ENGAWA, and ENGAWA ABURI. As the price was higher than the second plate, the taste and texture were superior.
The fourth plate, in order from the left, included KUE, HOTATE, HOTATE ABURI, KISU, and TACHIUO. I ordered and tried a variety of different types, and although the cheap ones were delicious, the ones that were relatively more expensive definitely tasted better.
#2. Sushi Tiger Menu
Sushi Tiger's menu is very simple, consisting of a variety of sushi, a few types of snacks, and drinks. The price of sushi ranges from 10,000VND for the cheapest to 70,000VND for the most expensive, which is very cheap considering other sushi restaurants nearby. The prices of alcohol aren't too bad, so it's a great place to visit for a drink with sushi.
I visited alone on a Thursday evening and ordered the dishes below.
MAGURO 3 kind SET: 150,000VND
SALMON: 32,000VND
SALMON ONION MAYO: 36,000VND
SALMON ABURI: 35,000VND
ENGAWA: 45,000VND
ENGAWA ABURI: 47,000VND
MANAGATSUO: 15,000VND
AJI: 10,000VND
KAMASU: 15,000VND
BORA: 15,000VND
HOTATE: 50,000VND
HOTATE ABURI: 52,000VND
KISU: 15,000VND
TACHIUO: 20,000VND
KUE: 25,000VND
Sapporo Draft Beer: 65,000VND
Sake: 98,000VND x 2 EA = 196,000VND
A total of 823,000VND plus 8% VAT came out to 888,840VND. I was surprised that the price was much cheaper than I expected, considering that I had 17 kinds of sushi, a glass of draft beer, and two glasses of sake. Sushi Tiger is the best place to enjoy delicious sushi and drinks at an affordable price among Ho Chi Minh's sushi restaurants, and is a place I can confidently recommend to people in Ho Chi Minh.
