#1. District 3, Sake Bar Mua Craft Sake Review
Sake bar Mua Craft Sake is located in District 3 of Ho Chi Minh City, near Ben Thanh Market, War Museum, Independence Palace and Tao Dan Park. Although it is not an area visited by many tourists, it is not far from Ben Thanh Market, less than 10 minutes by taxi. Compared to the luxurious atmosphere, the menu prices are reasonable, making it a great restaurant to casually enjoy homemade sake with Japanese-based fusion cuisine.
On a Saturday evening, four friends and I made a reservation and visited. The interior has a trendy and sophisticated feel, and there are many local Vietnamese customers, and the ratio of young women in particular seems to be higher than other restaurants.
For my first sake, I ordered Sake Carafe Cloudy Nigori(350ml). It was sweet with a vanilla scent, had a high density, and had a smooth mouthfeel. Along with the sake, they offer a variety of glasses to choose from. Each glass has a different size, so if you want to drink a lot, choose a large glass, or if you want to drink a little, choose a small glass.
For my first dish, I ordered Beef Tataki. After lightly cooking only the outside of the beef, it was sliced thinly and placed on top of ponzu sauce, followed by onions, lime slices, and caviar. The texture of the meat and the harmony of the meaty flavor with the subtle smoky aroma and sweet and sour ponzu sauce went really well with the sake.
For my second dish, I ordered Raw Tiger Prawn. This dish is similar to Thai-style shrimp sashimi kungchae nam pla, with tiger shrimp pickled in a passion fruit-based sweet and sour sauce. It has a very pungent taste, but has a clean finish, so it goes surprisingly well with sake.
For my second sake, I ordered Sake Carafe CT25 Pure Rice(350ml). It had a slightly sweet taste, a coconut flavor, and a dry finish. It was suitable for people who do not like light and sweet sake.
For my third dish, I ordered Chicken & Mushroom Skewers. It was a delicious skewer made with chicken thigh meat and pine mushrooms covered in sweet and salty tare sauce and grilled over charcoal.
For my fourth dish, I ordered Tsukune(chicken meatballs). You can eat salty chicken meatballs by dipping them in ponzu sauce with egg yolk, but the taste wasn't that special compared to the special appearance.
For my fifth dish, I ordered Duck Breast. Pink, tender duck breast steak cooked sous vide is quite delicious when dipped in pepper sauce. It goes well with dry sake rather than sweet sake.
For my last five or six dishes, I ordered Furikake Potato Fries and Chicken Heart in Soy Butter. The French fries sprinkled with furikake, a Japanese seasoning sprinkled on rice, were good, but the savory and salty stir-fried chicken hearts were especially delicious. If you visit Mua Craft Sake, I highly recommend ordering the Chicken Heart in Soy Butter.
