#1. District 7, Phu My Hung Rice Noodle PHO TRANG Review
The rice noodle restaurant PHO TRANG is a popular franchise that has recently started to rapidly increase the number of stores, operating more than ten stores in Ho Chi Minh City alone. The signature dish is Hanoi-style rice noodle with two big ribs, the generous portion and rich broth with the flavor of beef bone is attractive.
As a store that has only recently opened, the interior was quite clean. I visited alone on a Thursday evening to have a meal, but there were only a few tables occupied, probably because it only gets crowded during breakfast and lunch hours.
PHO TRANG sells a variety of drinks, including tea, fruit juice, soft drinks, and beer. I ordered a can of coke. Unlike other local restaurants, they keep their drinks refrigerated, so there is no need to use a cup filled with ice.
The Pho Bo Dac Biet(Special Beef Rice Noodle) and Quay that I ordered for the meal came out in 5 minutes. They served it with boiled bean sprouts and Thai basil, culantro, and limnophila aromatica as herbs. Actually, I wanted to order the restaurant's signature Pho Suon Bo Uc(Beef Ribs Rice Noodle), but I couldn't order it because the ribs were gone.
Pho Bo Dac Biet(Special Beef Rice Noodle) also uses the same broth base as Pho Suon Bo Uc(Beef Ribs Rice Noodle), so it has the same rich, savory broth flavor as beef bone soup. Instead of ribs, it uses various ingredients such as medium-rare beef, brisket, flank, shank, meatballs, tendon, and oxtail, so this also has its own charm.
There are so many different sauces on the table to put on rice noodles, like lime, chopped chili, chili slices, garlic vinegar, hoisin sauce, chili sauce, nuoc mam, and black pepper. Personally, I like to just put chopped chili, chili slices, black pepper, lime juice, and garlic vinegar on rice noodle.
Even though this rice noodle was delicious when eaten on its own, adding herbs and various sauces to suit my taste added spiciness and sourness along with the scent of the herbs, taking away oily feeling and adding flavor, making for an even more delicious.
Quay is a deep-fried rice dough bread. If you eat it by itself, it is hard and not very tasty. This is soaked in rice noodle broth and eaten. When soaked, it has a soft texture and is quite delicious as it absorbs the rich and savory broth.
#2. Rice Noodle PHO TRANG Menu
PHO TRANG, a rice noodle restaurant located in downtown Ho Chi Minh, offers very nice rice noodles at a reasonable price. In addition to beef rice noodles, they also sell a variety of dishes such as chicken rice noodles, mixed rice noodles, and bun bo hue. They also have a well-made combo menu, so you can enjoy a hearty meal at a cheaper price when visiting with others.
I visited alone for dinner on Thursday evening and ordered as follows:
Pho Bo Dac Biet(Special Beef Rice Noodle): 79,000VND
Quay: 5,000VND
Coke: 15,000VND
Wet Wipe: 3,000VND
For a total of 102,000 VND, I was able to enjoy a full meal of authentic Hanoi-style rice noodle. PHO TRANG is a franchise rice noodle restaurant, but the prices are reasonable, the store is clean, and the rice noodles are much better than I expected, so it is worth a visit if you are nearby.
