#1. District 2, An Phu Korean Chinese Restaurant BLUE DRAGON Review
BLUE DRAGON, a Korean Chinese restaurant, operates two stores in total, the main store in An Phu, District 2, and the branch in Phu My Hung, District 7. This is a fairly old restaurant in Ho Chi Minh, and it is attractive because you can taste authentic Korean Chinese food at a cheaper price than other Korean Chinese restaurants.
Like other old Korean restaurants, there was no special interior design, it was just clean. I visited alone on a Tuesday evening and sat in the corner.
As expected from a Korean Chinese restaurant, there are chili powder, vinegar, soy sauce, etc. on the table, and when you order food, they give you pickled radish, onion, and black bean paste. The newly opened fusion Chinese restaurants in Ho Chi Minh serve cabbage kimchi and green onion kimchi, so I thought it would be good if they served kimchi here too.
BLUE DRAGON sells kaoliang liquor, soju, and two types of beer(Tiger and Saigon Special). If there were more than one person visiting, I would have ordered a kaoliang liquor, but since I was alone, I ordered a can of Saigon Special.
Every time I visit BLUE DRAGON, I always order Fresh Onion Black Bean Noodles. Of the dozens of Korean Chinese restaurants in Ho Chi Minh, BLUE DRAGON is the only one that makes fresh onion black bean noodles that's close to the original. They put a fried egg on top of the noodles, and the portion is huge even if you don't order the extra portion.
The sauce is served separately from the noodles. It show large chunks of pork and a lot of fresh onions, the amount is huge. It was quite delicious because the sweetness of the onion, the savory taste of the pork, and the taste and aroma of the black bean paste come together.
Compared to black bean noodles, the taste of black bean paste and rich flavors are definitely stronger, and I was able to have a fairly satisfying meal with the right amount of sweetness and savory flavor. It is easier to mix than the original fresh onion black bean noodles, and the characteristic rough taste of black bean paste is less, it can be said to be attractive.
For my second dish, I ordered Sweet and Sour Pork(Small). It was thick, with a soft rather than crispy batter, and came with a soy sauce base sweet and sour sauce.
The thick but soft and tender fried pork and the sweet and sour sauce were quite harmonious. I think this kind of batter it's better to dip into rather than pour sauce over it. If I had a companion, I would have had sweet and sour pork as an snack with kaoliang liquor, but I was alone that day, so it was a shame.
BLUE DRAGON is a Korean Chinese restaurant where you can enjoy authentic Korean style Chinese food in abundance at a reasonable price. I always visit there whenever I crave for Fresh Onion Black Bean Noodles and am always very satisfied.
#2. Korean Chinese Restaurant BLUE DRAGON Menu
BLUE DRAGON sells most of the dishes that you would find in a Korean Chinese restaurant at a cheaper price than other Korean Chinese restaurants in the area. Although it is cheap, the quality and taste of the food is never lacking. Even if you don't order a extra portion, the portions of meals such as black bean noodles and spicy seafood noodles are sufficient.
I visited alone for dinner on a Tuesday evening and ordered as follows:
Fresh Onion Black Bean Noodles: 130,000VND
Sweet and Sour Pork(Small): 150,000VND
Saigon Special: 30,000VND
I was able to have a satisfying meal for a low price of 310,000VND. BLUE DRAGON is a Korean Chinese restaurant where you can enjoy authentic Korean style Chinese food in abundance at a reasonable price. I always visit there whenever I crave for Fresh Onion Black Bean Noodles and feel very satisfied. Of course, the taste is definitely worse when delivered than when you eat in the restaurant, so I recommend that you visit the restaurant and eat in person.
