#1. District 7, Phu My Hung Grilled Clams Korean Restaurant MATNAM Review
Grilled clams Korean restaurant MATNAM is located between Paris Baguette and Japanese restaurant Shobu near the Sky Garden apartment complex in Phu My Hung, District 7. This restaurant is especially popular with Korean men living in the neighborhood, as it serves fresh grilled clams and shrimp at a cheaper price than the local seafood restaurants nearby.

It is a small restaurant with a few tables on the first and second floors. Only the tables on the first floor have grills, so you can grill clams or shrimp on that tables. I visited with friends on a Friday evening and sat on the first floor.

I was able to see a variety of fresh shellfish, tiger shrimp, crabs, etc., living in the tanks on the first floor. This restaurant is worth a visit as you can taste fresh seafood at a cheaper price than the local seafood restaurants in the area.

The side dishes are simple, with pickled vegetables, radish kimchi, cabbage kimchi, and egg rolls. The soy sauce and vinegared red pepper paste for dipping the seafood are set according to the number of people, and wasabi is provided in abundance, so there is no need to ask for more during the meal.

Before the food we ordered came out, they served beef clam seaweed soup. It had a mysterious taste of beef and clam seaweed soup mixed together, and it was surprisingly light and clean, which was nice.

The Steamed River Prawn(1kg) I ordered came out first. It was steamed in the kitchen and there were 10 plump river prawns on a plate. I could peel and eat them myself, but I asked the staff to peel all the shells for me.

Additionally, I ordered Grilled River Prawn(1kg), and the fresh prawns came out in a bucket of ice water. They were definitely alive, but perhaps because they were in the cold water, they were slow to move.

The staff placed live river shrimps on a hot plate and grilled them, but surprisingly, they did not jump out. They were turning red, looked very appetizing.

Local restaurants will peel the shrimp if you ask, but MATNAM peels them really cleanly. They separated the body and the head so that it is easy to eat, and the chewy body and the melted and savory head are very delicious when eaten together.

I ordered a plate because the seafood pancake here had a different charm from other Korean restaurants. It was deep-fried and crispy, with a thick, large visual that resembled pizza.

It was thick and had a lot of green onions, squid, shrimp, clams, etc. It tasted pretty good when dipped in soy sauce, but it wasn't my taste. It felt more like vegetable tempura than original green onion pancake.

Lastly, I ordered Grilled Clams(Small). There was a variety of clams, scallops, oysters, conches, and abalone with a cheese sauce on the plate. The small portion is supposed to serve 2-3 people, but it's a good amount for two people to order and share.

The staff grilled the clams and separated the meat from the shells to make them easy to eat, and placed them on a plate. The food was delicious and it was really convenient to eat. It was cheaper than a local seafood restaurant, but the food was fresher and the service was good, so I was very satisfied.

The penshells were topped with mozzarella cheese and paprika pieces. The soft texture and sweet taste of the penshell, the salty and savory taste of the mozzarella cheese, and the paprika created a great harmony of flavors and aromas.

#2. Grilled Clams Korean Restaurant MATNAM Menu
Grilled clam restaurant MATNAM's menu is quite simple. In addition to steamed and grilled seafood such as clams, tiger shrimp, river prawn, and crabs, they also sell seafood spicy soup, crab spicy soup, seafood ramen, seafood jjambbong rice, and seafood noodles, as well as grilled meats such as beef, all at a lower price than other restaurants in the area. Alcoholic beverages are also considerably cheaper than other Korean restaurants, making it a great place to visit for a drink with seafood.

I visited with friends on Friday evening and ordered as follows:
Steamed River Prawn(1kg): 450,000VND
Grilled River Prawn(1kg): 450,000VND
Grilled Clams(Small): 800,000VND
Seafood Pancake: 180,000VND
Chamisul Soju: 100,000VND x 6 EA = 600,000VND
Tiger Beer: 40,000VND x 3 EA = 120,000VND
I was able to have a very satisfying meal at a price that was cheaper than I thought, 2,600,000VND. MATNAM is an attractive restaurant where you can properly taste fresh seafood at a cheaper price than other local seafood restaurants in the area. It is a restaurant that I can confidently recommend to those who are craving seafood in Phu My Hung, District 7.
