#1. District 7, Phu My Hung Korean BBQ GWAN DANG JIP Review
Korean BBQ GWAN DANG JIP operates stores in Thao Dien, District 2 and Phu My Hung, District 7 in Ho Chi Minh City. This restaurant is especially popular with Korean men working in Vietnam, as it sells a variety of meats that are great as soju, such as frozen pork belly, 1mm pork belly, beef short plate, pork skin, and Eonyang bulgogi, at low prices.

Not like a Korean BBQ restaurant, the interior is bright and clean. Six men include me made a reservation on a Saturday evening and sat in a room in the corner of the first floor. They gave us a room that was large enough to accommodate up to sixteen people, so we were able to eat very comfortably.

The side dishes include stir-fried sausage with vegetables, braised quail eggs in soy sauce, cucumber kimchi, cabbage kimchi, seasoned dried radish, pickled vegetables, and ssam. And if you order meat, they will grill batter-fried zucchini, batter-fried king oyster mushroom, and batter-fried pink sausage for free, so the side dishes are more varied than they look.

As expected from a famous franchise BBQ restaurant in Jeju Island, they sell Hallasan soju, so I ordered it with Sapporo draft beer. It has a high alcohol content of 21 degrees, but it is cleaner than other sojus and has a taste similar to vodka, so I found it quite appealing.

I couldn't help but order the 1mm pork belly from the one of most famous BBQ restaurant in Busan, Korea, when I saw it being sold at GWAN DANG JIP. This 1mm pork belly craze has been going on in Korea and Vietnam since last year.

Following the 1mm pork belly, I chose beef short plate as the meat to grill. Since beef brisket is too oily and greasier, I personally like beef short plate that is less oily and richer.

The meat was grilled by the staff at an empty table next to me. When you order meat at GWAN DANG JIP, they also grill kimchi, batter-fried zucchini, batter-fried king oyster mushroom, and batter-fried pink sausage, which makes it a more attractive BBQ restaurant.

Even though the 1mm pork belly is frozen, it had no gamey smell and had the unique rich flavor of pork. Its soft texture was not tough and went well with soju. It's more expensive than regular frozen pork belly, but I felt it was definitely worth it.

The Beef Short Plate, which followed the 1mm Pork Belly, was oily, juicy, and had the unique richness of beef. This was really tasty if you eat a little bit of it, but it was greasy, so could not eat a lot of.

I ordered the Rolled Omelette, which goes well with soju. Unlike other places, GWAN DANG JIP's rolled omelette doesn't use much water, so they use a lot of eggs, and it's not as soft, but it's full and has a salty yet rich egg flavor.

I also ordered Pork Skin for two, and it was the most delicious food I had that day. The outside of the pork skin was grilled to a crisp, while the inside was chewy and had a smoky aroma and a subtle spicy flavor, making it the perfect snack to soju.

We also ordered two servings of Eonyang Bulgogi, which the owner recommended. It was characterized by the lightly seasoned beef that was cooked on a grill until crispy without burning, and the sweet and salty taste that was not spicy but smoky was attractive.
